Jeremy Miller is sharing his gratitude to the late television icon Alan Thicke, who played his father in “Growing Dolores”, for providing emotional and professional support for a difficult time in his life.

Miller, better known for his interpretation of Ben Seover about “Growing Dolores”, felt sincere about his experiences with addiction in a video interview with Youngstown Studio last week.

During a particularly emotional point in the chat, Miller looked at his relationship with Thicke with love, calling him one of the “most affectionate, generous and loving men you could know.”

The former children’s actor, who is also a trained chef, recalled how Thicke and his “growth pain”, Kirk Cameron, approached him when he was “to the edge of the lack of housing.”

Thicke died in 2016 of a heart attack at age 69. While “Growing Doles” wrapped his seven -seasons in 1992, the actor had continued to appear in films and on television regularly in the years that preceded his death, with papers in “This is us” and “Fuller House.” His last proven film role was in “Love’s Last Resort” of 2017, which was released posthumously.

In his study chat of Youngstown, Miller acknowledged having been in “shock” upon learning of Thicke’s death, pointing out: “We really thought it was going to be the next Dick Clark, do you know? 102 and keep going.”

“I called just to check me, make sure everything goes well,” he said. “But he really played that father’s role. He was my other father.”
