Milan- The 2026 Winter Olympics Organizing Committee told News themezone it was “aware of an issue affecting a small number of medals and was investigating the matter,” after some athletes who won medals at the games reported they had broken.

“Don’t jump on them” Breezy Johnson, who won the gold medal in alpine skiing for Team USA on Sunday, he told reporters after his race.

“I was jumping up and down with excitement and it broke. I’m sure someone will fix it.” It’s not like broken madness but it’s a little broken,” Johnson said.

American figure skater Alysa Liu, who won gold with her team on Sunday night, posted a video on social media showing that her medal had also broken its ribbon.

“My medal doesn’t need the ribbon,” he wrote.

In an interview with News themezone on Monday, figure skater Danny O’Shea, making his Olympic debut at the Milano-Cortina Games, said he was being cautious about the gold medal he won with his team on Sunday.

“We’re just trying not to jump around too much,” O’Shea said.

Teammate Ellie Kam told News themezone that her gold medal was “definitely like a heavy weight to carry, but I slept with mine under my pillow, so that’s how I keep mine safe.”

German biathlete Justus Strelow was caught on camera shortly after winning bronze, picking up his broken medal from the ground and attempting to put it back on his ribbon.

The video shows Strelow’s teammates dancing to celebrate, and while he is off camera, his medal can be heard falling to the ground. As the camera zooms in on him, he tries to put his medal back together before giving up and continuing dancing.

Local Swedish media reported that cross-country skier Ebba Andersson’s silver medal also collapsed.

“The medal fell in the snow and broke in two,” Andersson said, according to Reuters. “Now I hope the organizers have a ‘Plan B’ for the broken medals.”

The Winter Olympics Organizing Committee told News themezone it was “taking the issue seriously, fully recognizing the importance these medals have for athletes.”
