Of all the names in the files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once a close friend of President Donald Trump, the biggest surprise might be “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart.

“To get ahead of the story, I’m also in the archives,” Stewart revealed Monday night.

But his cameo was different from the usual mentions of Trump and other boldface names that appear in the files.

“Okay, this is actually true,” Stewart said before showing an Aug. 29, 2015, message that Epstein sent to producer Barry Josephson with an idea to help Woody Allen, the filmmaker who has faced sexual abuse allegations.

Epstein wrote that he suggested Allen “do a new exclusive routine” for AppleTV or Amazon.

Josephson responded: “Make a real biographical experience with your booth being the stopper. Someone like Jon Stewart could host/narrate the biographical part.”

“Excuse me?” Stewart responded. “I’m offended. Someone like Jon Stewart? Or Jon Stewart? My point is, do I have the offer or is this an audition?”

Stewart’s name appeared only in passing. But many others did not, and Stewart noted that among them were some of the most powerful people in the country, including members of Trump’s inner circle.

Trump, he noted, has called for an end to “sanctuary city” policies that help protect migrants. However, the real “sanctuary city,” Stewart said, was the one that has protected Trump and the other figures named in the files from facing accountability.

“The true sanctuary city is where money and power protect you from the consequences of sex trafficking, influence peddling, or taking half a billion dollars and giving away America’s artificial intelligence infrastructure,” Stewart said. “It’s not the small town in the Midwest where, while trying to help a woman up after she’s been macerated, you get shot in the back of the head. That’s the real sanctuary city, and these are the motherfuckers who live there.”

With that, Stewart showed an image of Trump and many of the others named in the files.
