Israeli troops opened fire on Saturday towards multitudes of Palestinians looking for food from distribution centers led by a US-, group backed by Israelis In southern Gaza, killing 32 people, according to witnesses and hospital officials.

The two incidents occurred near the centers operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. In another violence, two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air attack in the city of Gaza, health officials said.

The GHF Operations launched at the end of May with support from the United States and Israel. The two governments seek to replace the UNU traditional aid distribution system in Gaza, saying that Hamas militants divert the supplies. The UN denies the accusation.

While the GHF says that it has distributed millions of meals to the hungry Palestinians, local health officials and witnesses say that hundreds of people have been killed by the fire of the Israeli army while trying to reach the distribution centers.

The army, which is not in the sites, but ensures them from a distance, says that it only shoots warning shots if the crowds get too close to their strength.

The GHF, which uses private armed guards, says there have been no mortal shootings in their sites, although this week, 20 people were killed in one of their locations, most of them in a stampede. The group accused Hamas agitators of causing panic, but did not give evidence to support the claim.

He said he was investigating victims reports, but pointed out that the incident occurred during the night when the distribution site was closed.

‘Indiscriminate fire’

The majority of Saturday’s deaths occurred when the Palestinians concentrated in the Teina area, about two miles from a GHF aid distribution center east of the city of Khan Younis.

Mahmoud Mokeimar, an eyewitness, said he was walking with masses of people, mostly young men, towards the food center. The troops fired warning shots while the crowds advanced, before opening fire to the people of the march.

“It was a massacre … the occupation opened fire indiscriminately,” he said. He said he managed to flee, but saw at least three motionless bodies lying on the ground, and many other injured fled.

Akram Aker, another witness, said the troops fired machine guns mounted on tanks and drones. He said the shooting occurred between 5 am and 6 am

“They surrounded us and started shooting directly towards us,” he said. He said he saw many victims lying on the floor.
