Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) Was not worried enough for the steep international tariffs of President Donald Trump to vote against him on Wednesday, like some of his Republican colleagues, but scolded the supporters of politics with a serious warning to multiple measures.

“In the long run, we are all dead,” CNN Raju told Manu Raju in Capitol Hill for “The Lead With Jake Tapper” Wednesday. “The short race is also important. No one knows what the impact of these tariffs on the economy is.”

Trump called on April 2 “day of liberation” and announced a reference tariff of 10% broad above all imports to the USA., With levies in dozens of even more established countries. He repeated his false statement on Wednesday that foreign nations, instead of Americans, will assume the costs.

Only four Republican senators on Wednesday – Rand Paul (Ky.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Mitch McConnell (Ky.) And Susan Collins (Maine) – joined the Democrats to vote against the emergency powers that Trump is using to impose a 25% tariff against Canada.

Kennedy did not, but reiterated his concerns in a Newsmax interview later that day.

“What the president says is that, if he wants to sell things to Americans, transfer his business to the United States and hire Americans and contribute to our economy, not just selling things,” said presenter Rob Schmitt. “In the long run, he is right. But in the long run, we are all dead.”

“It may not [lead to inflation] This time, “Kennedy added.” Am I predicting that it will do it or not? No. I’m going to say it again. We are in unknown waters and we don’t know. And anyone who tries to tell him that he knows what the short -term impact will be simply to lie. ”
