’80s Star Alleges Oscars Left Him Out of Planned Rob Reiner Tribute
Actor Corey Feldman has announced that he was not invited to participate in a special tribute at the Oscars in honor of the late filmmaker Rob Reiner, who directed him in the 1986 film “Stand By Me.”
“I JUST WANT TO BRIEFLY MENTION THIS WHOLE OSCAR MATTER! YES, IT’S TRUE I WAS NOT INVITED,” Feldman wrote in X last Friday. “I UNDERSTAND THAT MANY BELIEVE IT IS SHOULD 2 SPEAK FRANKLY ABOUT THE ABUSE I SUFFERED AS A CHILD AND THE CAMPAIGN 2 SILENCED ME. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME! THIS IS NOT MY TIME @ EVERYONE! IT IS ABOUT THE TRAGIC LOSS OF YOUR FRIEND ROB REINER AND HIS MEMORY.”
Reiner and his wife, producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on December 14, 2025. The Los Angeles County medical examiner later reported that the couple died of “multiple sharp force injuries.”
His son, Nick Reiner, has been loaded with two counts of first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of his parents. He pleaded not guilty in February.
Last week, Variety reported that Reiner’s “When Harry Met Sally” stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan will reunite during the Oscars’ In Memoriam segment to honor Reiner along with other actors who have appeared in the late filmmaker’s films.
According to the daily mail, Feldman was “devastated” not to have been chosen to participate in the Reiner tribute in the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Later Entertainment Weekly confirmed the reportciting a close source familiar with the matter.

Additionally, Feldman alluded that his “Stand By Me” co-stars, Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton, had been invited to participate in the tribute.
“YOU DON’T NEED ME THERE, WILL AND JERRY GOT THIS, I’M SURE, THEY WILL DO A FANTASTIC JOB!… BAD HONOR TO STEALING MY WAY! [prayer hands emoji]”, wrote.
The Academy and representatives for Feldman, Wheaton and O’Connell did not immediately respond to News’s request for comment.
