A man in his 40s died after falling into a Oasis Concert at the Wembley Stadium in London, police said Sunday.
The brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who brought the iconic Britpop band again for a box office success World Tour This year, he told the BBC that they were “shocked and sad” for the death of the fanatic at the concert on Saturday night.
According to a spokesman for the London Metropolitan Police, officers and doctors were called to the scene after 10:00 pm after “reports that a person had been injured” in the full stadium.
“A man, about 40, was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was unfortunately declared dead on the scene,” said the spokesman, urging any witness to be presented.
“Our thoughts are with his family,” said a Wembley spokesman, while added that “Oasis concert tonight will continue as planned.”
Police said the stadium was busy and “they believe that several people are likely to witness the incident, or know or without knowing it they have been caught in mobile phone video images,” the BBC said.
Wembley’s stadium said in a statement that doctors, police and London ambulance service had attended the injured man, the BBC reported.
“Despite his efforts, the fan died very sadly. Our thoughts are with his family, who have been informed and are being supported by especially trained police officers,” said the stadium.
Sunday’s concert was the last Oasis date in London of the 41-Gig. Meeting World Tour after 16 years of distancing among the famous volatile Gallaghers.
The tour has sold around 900,000 tickets, and the group addresses Edinburgh next to their international leg to the United States, Japan, Australia and Brazil.
The band will appear below in Edinburgh for three concerts on August 8, 9 and 12 and then make its tour to Ireland, Canada, the United States and Mexico before returning to Wembley on September 27 and 28, according to the BBC.
