The British police said they arrested 365 people in downtown London on Saturday as supporters of a recently prohibited pro-elastine group intentionally reduced the law as part of their effort to force the government to reconsider the prohibition.

Parliament at the beginning of July approved a law that prohibits Palestine action and make it a crime to publicly support the organization. That occurred after the activists broke into a base of the Royal Air Force and destroyed two cistern aircraft to protest against the support of Great Britain to Israel’s offensive against Hamas In the gaza strip.

The sponsors of the group, who have celebrated a series of protests throughout the United Kingdom during the past month, argue that the law illegally restricts freedom of expression.

On Saturday, more than 500 protesters filled the square outside the houses of Parliament, many daring to the police to arrest them showing signals that said “I oppose the genocide. I support Palestine’s action.” That was enough for the police to intervene.

But as the demonstration began to end, the police and the protection organizers extended for the number of arrests, since the organizers tried to demonstrate that the law was unfeasible.

“The police have only been able to stop a fraction of those allegedly committing crimes of ‘terrorism’, already most of them have been given bail in the street and have been allowed to go home,” said our jury, who organized the protest, in a statement. “This is a great shame for (the government), even more undermining the credibility of this broadly ridiculed law, brought to punish those who expose the government’s own crimes.”

The London Metropolitan Police Service quickly responded, saying that this was not true and that many of those who gathered in the square were spectators, media or people who did not have banners that support the group.

“We are sure that anyone who has come to the Plaza del Parliament today to maintain a sign that expresses their support for the action of Palestine was arrested or is in the process of being arrested,” said the police force in a statement.

On Friday, the police said the demonstration was unusual because protesters wanted to be arrested in large quantities to exercise a tension against the broader police and criminal justice system.

Why is Palestine action prohibited in the United Kingdom?

The Government moved to Ban Palestine Action after activists broke into a base of the British Air Force in southern England on June 20 to protest British military support for the Israel-Ahamas War. The activists sprayed red paint on the engines of two tank aircraft at the RAF Brize Norton base in Oxfordshire and caused more damage to the levers.

Palestine Action had previously attacked Israeli defense contractors and other sites in the United Kingdom that believe they have links with the Israeli army.

The group’s supporters are challenging the prohibition of the Court, saying that the Government has gone too far by stating that Palestinian action is a terrorist organization.

While Prime Minister Keir Starmer has angered Israel With plans to recognize a Palestinian state Later this year, many Palestinian supporters in Britain criticize the government for not doing enough to end the war in Gaza.
