Almost 600 pounds of cocaine were hidden in sending banana in Greece after the police receive their tip from the United Kingdom

The Greek police said on Sunday that almost 600 pounds of cocaine confiscated with an estimated value of more than $ 6.5 million. Cocaine was hidden inside a bananas container imported from Ecuador, they said, marking another instance of drugs that are hidden in the fruit.

Police had been informed by the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom that cocaine would be transported by a ship that goes to the Greek port of the Northern tosaloniki.

Three men were arrested, authorities said.

Police officers found cocaine and eliminated most drugs contained in container brick packages before loading it in a truck.

Police launched a brief video of the elimination operation, showing bricks that fall from a container that was opened by the officers. The authorities also published images of the supposed drugs, which show dozens of bricks labeled with the word “diesel.”

The truck went to the Asspropirgos suburb of Athens, more than 300 miles to the south, where the police arrested three men when they opened the container on Saturday.

The total amount of cocaine seized was 598 pounds, police said.

The arrested men include two Greeks, the 40 -year -old owner of a transport company, a 32 -year -old Bulgarian citizen and a 47 -year -old Bulgarian, according to the police, adding that the Bulgarian was in contact with a drug gang and organized the collection and transport of the container. The 32 -year -old was in charge of distributing the drug through unidentified gang members.

Police are looking for more people than, according to those who belong to a drug distribution gang. The three arrested men will face a prosecutor on Monday.
