Tom Brady fold on the ‘Challenge’ for Bill Belichick in the first season in North Carolina

Bill Belichick embarks in his first season as coach of the Tar Heels of North Carolina, with high expectations and a dose of controversy due to the drama outside the field.

Even so, Tar Heels players and officials have maintained that external noise has not caused distractions, and will certainly be ready for their September 1 confrontation against TCU.

Tom Brady, who helped Belichick and the New England patriots six Super Bowl titles recently talked about what the NFL coach will take to the table.

“What they are going to get is, obviously, the most prepared coach and more worker who has ever been,” Brady told Joel Klatt of News Sports in the last episode of “Big Noon Conversations.”

“If you go to that school, you will be prepared to play at the next level. He will teach you the right foundations, the right techniques. He will have a great expectation for you and you will develop a lot. That is what I know.

“I think the challenge for him is that he is dealing with many probably underdeveloped players, because he has dealt with boys who are four, five, six years more than he normally has to deal with. So I think there is probably a learning curve for him, and this is only me hypothesizing. I do not have much knowledge of it, but I am sure that it is different training a 17 or 18 years than a 22 or 18 years.

Brady also wondered how much athletes can retain given the vast knowledge of Belichick training. He pointed out that they will not have so much time to prepare for a game compared to that of a NFL professional player.

Anyway, Belichick will be called to lead a team that was 6-7 under Mack Brown last year.

The Tar Heels have never reached the university American football playoff nor have they really been contending for the national title. The last time the team won at least 10 games was in 2015 with Marquise Williams as the Marshal of the starting field. Before that, it was in 1997.
