American adolescent influencer still stranded in Antarctic weeks after the landing plane without permission

What was intended as a fundraising mission has become a nightmare to American adolescent influencer Ethan Guowhich has been caught in a remote place in Chilean territory in Antarctica since June.

Last year, Guo began a trip to become the youngest person to fly only to the seven continents. Guo flew his Cessna 182q to North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia and Europe before addressing Antarctica.

Prosecutors said he was authorized to fly to the Chilean city of Punta Arenas, which is often used as a basis for excursions to Antarctica. The authorities said Guo provided “data from the false flight plan” and traveled to King George Island. Guo’s flight plan only included his landing in Punta Arenas, authorities said. Chile claims the property of the island, which is about 75 miles from the Antarctica coast.

Guo was arrested at King George Island airport. On June 29, he was accused of giving false information to soil control and landing without authorization, both violations of the Chilean Aeronautical Code. The code requires a short -term imprisonment or a fine for anyone lands in the territory of the country without authorization.

Chilean prosecutor Cristián Cristoso also said that Guo violated the “national and international” rules that govern access to Antarctica and the routes used to travel there. The unauthorized flight represented safety risks for other air travelers, Cristoso said.
