A team of mountaineers left on Thursday to recover the body of a Chinese climber of the second highest peak in the world after helicopter flights with bad weather, said a Pakistani official.
Guan Jing was beaten by the fall of rocks on Tuesday while K2 descended, one day after reaching its summit with a group in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, according to Faizullah Faraq, a spokesman for the local government. She died in the mountain, known for her pending treacherous, frequent rock falls and extreme climatic conditions.
He said his body is between 330 and 500 feet on the advanced base camp at about 17,700 feet and has not yet recovered. K2 rises to 28,251 feet above sea level and is widely considered one of the most difficult and dangerous peaks to climb, with a much higher mortality rate than Mount Everest.
“Currently, the weather is not suitable for a helicopter flight, so the body has not yet been demolished” from the mountain, he said. Faraq said Jing was part of an expedition organized by a Nepali company.
He said that a Nepali sherpa, Jangbu, was sent on Wednesday to recover his body, but was injured on the road and stranded. The helicopter later rescued the Nepali and was transferred to the Skardu hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.

Guan died as the mountain descended under camp 1, according to Nepal’s tourist times.
Mortal incidents are common in K2, where steep gradients, thin air and sudden storms can convert even routine descents into potentially mortal tests. Last month, a Pakistani climber died on a rock slide in K2, according to multiple media reports.
In 2021, recognized Scottish climber Rick Allen died In an avalanche while trying to climb K2.
The last death occurs two weeks after the mountaineer and the German Olympic gold medalist, Laura Dahlmeierhe died while trying another peak in the region. The efforts to recover his body were abandoned when Dahlmeier’s family informed the authorities that he had declared that no one should risk his life to recover his body if he dies in an accident.
