Seventeen years after “American Idol” put it on the map, David Archuleta is ready to live life in his own rhythm, and in doing so, he reflects his real me through the music in ways he had never done before.

“I’m just trying to be myself, find out what that is and evolve as a person,” Pop singer told News. “I don’t want to create drama or anything. I’m just trying to find joy to create, act, dance … I’m not looking for heavy opinions about things.”

On Friday, Archuleta presented a new musical project, “Earthly Delights”. The EP of six songs is the monitoring of its 2020 album, “Therapy Sessions”, and its first original music release since they presented themselves as a member of the queer community in 2021.

Archuleta began its “flirtatious” effectiveness with the first EP single, “Crème Brulée”, in March. The song’s music video found the singer and composer showing a chiseled physique while backed by a three -people dance company.

His last single is the melancholic ballad “Sweet Love”, and in his music video that accompanies him, he portrays both a thoughtful angel and a Bobby Darin singer, in the early 1950s. Together, both “Crème Brulée” and The mormone education of his youth.

“I feel that I am recovering my power by writing these songs,” said Archuleta, who moved away from the Church of Jesus Christ of the last days in 2022. “I grew up believing that homosexuals only worried about having sex, that is what it meant to be gay. But we experienced love like any other person. [Now] I am allowing myself to let my feelings open to other boys and fall in love. ”

He continued observing: “It is important to remember [members of] The strange community that does not have to dress in a certain way, look in a certain way, act in a certain way or have a certain way of speaking. I hope there is space for people who grew religious, they came out later in life and that they can be a bit square, like me. We have all entered this that entered ourselves at different times. ”

Although the “earthly delights” move away from the references open to politics, Archuleta says that his “activist” side comes out while talking with his fans, many of whom consider him a model to follow.

“I try to help people better understand what it is to leave as queer and be weird,” he said. “Sometimes you are used to avoiding it and being on the autopilot. So, it’s like, ok, how will I reprogram and let myself explore this aspect of myself more freely and without hesitation? ‘ You find what works for you. ”

Since he arrived as a runner -up in the seventh season of “American Idol” in 2008, Archuleta has launched eight studio albums, including “Forevermore” of 2012 and “Postcards in the Sky” of 2017, and has proven to be a formidable live intertpreter.

His earthly Tour of Delights will begin on August 23 with an appearance in Ohio’s Akron pride, followed by Sacramento Pride in California on August 31. He is ready to act in New York and San Francisco, along with a welcome show at Salt Lake City, Utah, among other cities.

Regarding the tour, Archuleta is excited to interpret her new songs “in a scenario of a little Rave”, while hugging fans who “have been with me since he was a naive child and continues to encourage me.”

“I have noticed that many people expect it to be a bigger personality than life,” he said. “Go see ‘Rupaul’s Drag Race’ if that’s what you want. Don’t expect that from me. I’m not looking for everyone’s favor and blessing. I tried to do that before, and stinks.”
