British actor Terence Stamp, who played the General of Arch-Villain Zod in “Superman” and “Superman II”, died at the age of 87, his family said.

Oscar -nominated actor died Sunday morning, his family told Reuters in a statement. His death was also revealed in a death warning published online. The cause was not known immediately.

“Leaves behind an extraordinary work, both as an actor and writer who will continue to play and inspire people during the coming years,” the statement said to Reuters. “We ask for privacy at this sad moment.”
