Explosion and fire in the factory in Russia kill 24 people, wounded to more than 150

The number of deaths for the fire last week in an industrial plant in the Ryazan region of Russia has increased to 24, with at least 157 people injured, the authorities said on Monday.

The fire exploded on Friday at the Eastik plant in the Shilovsky district, about 155 miles southeast of Moscow. Emergency teams continued to search the debris, said the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The state agency Ria Novosti reported that a gunpowder workshop in the installation caught fire and caused an explosion. The images released by officials show part of the building reduced to the rubble.

Researchers are investigating the cause of the fire.

Local authorities declared a day of mourning on Ryazan on Monday.
