The mayor of Mexico City says that the police arrested 13 in relation to the murders of 2 employees.

“In memory of our colleagues and out of respect for their families and friends, this government will not rest until the truth is known and justice serves,” said the mayor in a statement published on social networks.

Bertha María Mayor Luján, main prosecutor of Mexico City, later said during a press conference that five vehicles, including the motorcycle in which the shooter fled, were part of the operation. It was identified that two of the other vehicles had watched the victims in the weeks prior to their murders.

Mayor Luján even said that researchers believe that the coup had originally planned for May 14, but Guzmán did not pick Muñoz that day, so they believe he was suspended.

The Federal Security Chief of Mexico, Omar García Harfuch, said the researchers confirmed that those involved in the shootings initially fled to a neighborhood in the Iztacalco district, not far from the capital’s international airport. There they changed vehicles and escaped from the city to the neighboring state of Mexico.

The early hours of Wednesday, the police held 11 raids, stopping at the 13 suspects.

The police chief of Mexico City, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, said there were several lines of investigation, but the authorities would not talk about a possible reason while the investigation remained open.
