Trump channels his inner tourist during DC military repression

Washington (AP) – With National Guard troops in federal streets and agents at the door of his former advisor, President Donald Trump spent a strong dose of his Friday by channeling his inner tourist and reviving his past days as owner of a sports team and magnate of the construction.

He stopped in a gift shop near the White House, visited the Kennedy center that now presides and returned to his increasingly golden oval office to announce that the United States cohhost had the World Cup next year.

“We had a lot of fun,” Trump said. “We are fixing everyone.”

The president’s stops around the city occurred since the capital of the nation is increasingly on the edge amid the deployment of Trump of the National Guard and the federalization of the Washington Police Force in an effort to improve the crime.

Just before leaving the White House, the authorities announced that there were 76 arrests throughout the city last night as part of the repression. The Pentagon also said that the National Guard troops patrolling the streets of DC would soon begin to transport weapons.

“We are going to make DC totally safe. When people come from Iowa, Indiana, all beautiful places, and come, they will not go home in a body bag,” Trump said after visiting the exhibition of people’s house and his gift shop. “They don’t go home in a coffin, and it’s very safe at this time.”

However, with the repression that now enters its third week, many residents and visitors of Washington do not feel as safe as the president suggests, with persistent concerns that the White House is amplifying racist narratives about urban crime and knocking down homeless camps where the most vulnerable lives.

Trump has ignored the criticism and declared, when asked about the FBI he is looking for at the home and office of his former national security advisor John Bolton, “I am actually the director of the law.” Even so, he spent much more time looking and acting as a president knowing the parts of work that make him happier.
