Pentagon who works on military deployment plans in Chicago, reports the Washington Post
Washington, August 23 (Reuters) – The Pentagon is working on plans to display the United States Army in Chicago, since President Donald Trump says he is taking energetic measures against crime, lack of housing and undocumented immigration, Washington Post reported Saturday.
The planning of the Department of Defense, in process for weeks, involves several options, including the mobilization of at least a few thousand members of the National Guard as soon as September, the post reported, citing the officials familiar with the matter.
“Chicago is a disaster,” Trump said, Republican, to journalists on Friday, ridiculing his mayor as he continued his attacks on the cities led by democratic politicians. “And we will straighten that probably below.”
The Pentagon said in a statement on Saturday night: “We will not speculate on additional operations. The department is a planning organization and is continually working with other agency partners in plans to protect federal assets and staff.”
He asked for comments, the White House referred to Trump’s statement on Friday.
JB Pritzker, the Illinois Democratic governor, who includes Chicago, said in a statement that the State had not received a scope of the federal government about whether he needed assistance. He said there was no emergency that guarantees a national guard or other military deployment.

A spokesman for the mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson did not immediately respond to a request for comments. On Friday, Johnson said the city had serious concerns about the impact of any illegal deployment of National Guard troops.
“The problem with the president’s approach is that he is uncoordinated, without being innovated and not solid,” said the mayor, added that during the past year, homicides in Chicago have fallen by more than 30%, robberies by 35%and shootings in almost 40%.
