The key senator of the Republican party asks to stop in vaccine decisions in the middle of CDC Chaos
Washington – A key Republican senator on Thursday asked the centers for the control and prevention of diseases to postpone an upcoming meeting of his federal vaccine advisory panel, saying that the agency’s leadership is in disorder and any recommendation of this panel will not have credibility.
Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.), President of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, Labor and Pensions Committee, says that CDC should indefinitely delay a September 18 meeting of its immunization practices advisory committee, a panel of experts that composes the national recommendations for vaccine absorption.
“If the meeting progresses, any recommendation made must be rejected for lacking legitimacy given the seriousness of the accusations and the current agitation in the leadership of the CDC,” said Cassidy, who is also a doctor, in a statement.
In her message, he referred to the sudden dismissal of the director of the CDC, Dr. Susan Monaz, apparently for disagreement about vaccines with the Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Her thrust was followed by the resignation of other main public health experts in the CDCs, which raises the alarm on the credibility of the reduction of public health.
“Serious accusations have been made about the agenda of the meeting, membership and lack of scientific process that are followed for the September ACIP meeting now announced,” Cassidy said in his statement. “These decisions directly affect children’s health and the meeting should not occur until significant supervision has been carried out.”
Historically, the ACIP panel has been composed of non -partisan public health experts. However, in June, Kennedy, a notorious street vendor of conspiracy and misinformation theories about vaccines, eliminated the 17 committee experts and replaced them with their own elections, several of which have records of being hostile or have little or no experience in Vaccine policy
Cassidy previously asked to delay the panel meeting after Kennedy purged all its members, saying that their elections “Lack of experience.” Now the senator is asking for the postponement of the committee meeting in response to Kennedy exploiting the leadership of the CDC.
On Wednesday, Kennedy He announced that it is stripping millions of people to COVID vaccines: the FDA approved new COVID vaccines by 2025-2026, but less people, particularly adults from 18 to 64 years, can obtain them without some proof of an underlying condition linked to the severe risk of COVID. Children, particularly those under 2 years old, will also be disproportionately affected.
Monaz withdrew Kennedy’s policy change. In a statement on Wednesday night, his lawyers said he had “denied non -scientific and reckless rubber simple and shooting dedicated health experts,” to protect the public. “For that, she has been attacked.” Three other experts in the CDC also quickly resigned in protest of what one called policies that were “designed to hurt instead of improving public health.” Monarch is now demanding for being fired.

The issuance of this statement is the least Cassidy you could do to withdraw Kennedy’s attacks against science and medicine. In February, he voted in favor of confirming Kennedy to his current position, despite knowing his long history of Propagation of dangerous misinformation about safety and vaccine medicine. YoIn the end, each Republican senator but one, Senator Mitch McConnell (Ky.), A polio survivor, voted to confirm Kennedy anyway.
Most of those Republican senators say nothing now about the actions of the HHS secretary. In addition to Cassidy, the only other Republicans who have addressed Kennedy’s clash with medical experts in CDC are Rand Paul’s sensations (Ky.) And Susan Collins (Maine).
Paul celebrated the shock in the leadership of the CDC because, he said, there is no evidence that healthy children are better to obtain the Covid vaccine, both in terms of their health results and their role in the transmission.
“Good relief to these extremists in the CDC,” Paul said Thursday on social networks. “There is no medical evidence that the COVID vaccine changes the transmission or the result of health for healthy children.”
In fact, all children from 6 months to 23 months have a high risk of serious COVID and hospitalization, and it is recommended to be vaccinated. Children and adolescents, from 2 to 18 years old, is also recommended to obtain the vaccine for a variety of reasons, including domestic contacts at risk of severe COVID.
Meanwhile, Collins responded to the situation with a family chorus: it is “extremely alarmed.”
