Trump makes an admission about the recent conversations of Russia-Ukraine with Putin
President Donald Trump said in a rare admission of error that he had thought that his recent sitting with Russian President Vladimir Putin would lead to the end of the war in Ukraine.
“I thought I had done it,” Trump revealed in an interview with The Daily Caller published on Saturday.
The president met with Putin in Alaska earlier this month for negotiations to put the hostilities in Ukraine. Trump came out empty, but the next day he said they had discussed a “peace agreement” together, which has not yet been publicly materialized.
Trump sat for a one -hour conversation on Friday at the Oval office with Reagan Reese, the corresponding house correspondent for the conservative outlet. He said that Putin is unlikely to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the short term.
“We are not talking about something I started. I inherited this war. And all I am trying to make is get the flame, you know. And I thought I had done it,” Trump told Reese, and added that he previously “did it with wars that were more difficult than this.”
“So three of those wars are happening for more than 30 years, and I did them all,” he continued. “This was fair, it has been difficult. It has been a difficult war.”
Trump has inclined publicly in recent months for a Nobel Peace Prize, claiming credit to resolve numerous international conflicts.
Trump promised in the campaign last year to end the War of Russia-Ukraine within 24 hours after his re-election, and told reporters before his summit with Putin that Russia would face “very severe consequences” if he continued hostilities later.
Trump assaulted the non -interventionist part of his base on Friday by promising once again that American troops will not be deployed in Ukraine, but said he is willing to provide air support if that means winning the war. The president also expressed his frustration with the conflict.
“Look, I would like to see something resolved,” he told Reese. “They are not our soldiers, but there are, from five to 7,000, mostly young killed every week. If I could stop that and have a plane flying through the air from time to time … we would help them.”

Reese asked Trump about the “big” problem that he previously said that he and Putin did not agree on the summit. Trump did not offer clarifications about what the problem was, and instead promoted his “good relationship” with the Russian president.
“That is why I really thought we would have done this,” he said, alluding to El End de Guerra. “I would have loved having done it. Maybe they have to fight a little more. You know, just fight, stupidly, keep fighting.”
