Afghanistan shaken by the magnitude earthquake of 6.0 near the Pakistan border

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 shook southeast of Afghanistan near the border of Pakistan on Sunday night, according to the United States geological service.

The earthquake epicenter was 22 miles to the north or Bāsawul, Afghanistan, and had a depth of 6.2 miles, the USGS said. He hit at 11:47 pm local time on Sunday.

Naqibullah Rahimi, spokesman for the Public Health Department of Nangarhar, said that 15 people were injured and taken to the local hospital to receive treatment.

There was a second earthquake about 20 minutes later in the same province, with a magnitude of 4.5 and a depth of 10 kilometers.

Afghanistan is close to the crossing of Eurastic and Indian tectonic plates, it is often affected by earthquakes.
