NOAA updates the hurricane forecast
Hurricane Kiko, a powerful category 4 storm, is turning in the Pacific Ocean and heading west in the direction of Hawaii.
The forecast warned that the waves of the storm could reach the Hawaiian islands at the end of the weekend and cause surfings and mortal sink currents.
At 11 pm, the east time of Friday, the storm was about 1,130 miles east-southeast of thread, Hawaii, and 1,335 miles east-southeast of Honolulu, the National Hurricane Center based in Miami in its last advice reported. Their maximum sustained winds were overcoming 140 mph, and moved to the west-northwest to about 12 mph.
The storm is expected to continue strengthening until Saturday before a “gradual weakening” begins on Sunday, the forecasts said.
There are no watches or coastal warnings in force as of Friday.

Maps show the prognostic path of Hurricane Kiko
While Kiko travels slowly, Hawaii is becoming more in his line of vision for possible direct impacts, such as winds and rains starting Monday. The main threats are forecast for Tuesday, according to Nikki Nolan, News themezone and Stations meteorologist.
Hawaii’s interim governor, Sylvia Luke, declared an emergency state on Friday due to the possible climate uncertainty raised by Kiko. “We urge residents and visitors to monitor updates, follow the official orientation and prepare accordingly,” Luke said.
The National Meteorological Service in Honolulu is monitoring the possible impacts of Kiko and anticipating heavy rains that lead to potential floods, along with high surfs, at the beginning of next week.
This map details the storm’s forecast route, which shows that it is approaching the Hawaiian Islands this weekend:

Another map, from the National Hurricane Center, shows that the winds of tropical storm force could begin to affect Hawaii on Monday.

However, as News affiliate points out in Honolulu, it is too early to know where the storm will go in relation to Hawaii, since the forecast track can change.
