Bernie Sanders calls the triumphs of the Social Security failure.
Senator Bernie Sanders set fire to a falsehood that the Trump administration has repeatedly pressed for Social Security during a CNN City Council on Wednesday night, when Vermont’s independent senator called President Donald Trump to affirm that millions of dead people “only another lie” are being made.
“Trump gets up in his state of the union, and all of you, many of you have heard it, and he says, Oh, my goodness, millions and millions of older people, 150 years of age, 200 years of age. Do you remember?
“It’s a lie, a total and absolute lie,” he continued. “I mean, according to the new type that will become the Social Security administrator, Trump’s own designated, more than 99% of the benefits owed to people in Social Security were obtained by people in Social Security. It is just another lie.”

Trump has repeatedly pressed this false claim, even making it a laugh show during his March speech to Congress.

After Trump talked about payments in February, his own acting Social Security Commissioner issued a statement that discredited the claim, saying that the agency has records of people without death associated with them, but that does not mean that they continue to receive payments.
“These people do not necessarily receive benefits,” said interim commissioner Leland Dudek.
Social Security administration also has an automated process that ends the benefits for 115 years or more.

Vice President JD Vance has also declared this claim about the deceased who received checks, saying in an interview with News earlier this month that almost half of all the calls he receives are fraudulent.
“People who are 150 who are fraudulently collecting Social Security payments are observed. See our Social Security System, 40% of the people who are calling are really committing fraud. That means that 60% that their social security checks need is waiting online,” he said.

Vance did not support this claim with any evidence, although it may be related to the information of the SSA in March that “approximately 40 percent of the direct deposit fraud of the Social Security is associated with someone who calls the SSA to change the information of the bank of direct deposits.”
Billionaire Elon Musk, who currently serves as Trump’s main advisor, has also stated without evidence that 40% of all calls to social security are fraudulent.
Sanders and other politicians have accused Trump to disseminate the accusations of false fraud about the social security system as a means to dismantle him.
“That is a scandalous lie, aimed at laying the foundations for social security cuts and dismantling the most successful and popular government program in history,” Sanders said in a response to Trump’s Congress speech in March.
