Sotomayor Scorches Supreme Court

Judge Sonia Sotomayor issued a skillful dissent to the decision of the Supreme Court on Monday that authorizes the use of racial profiles immigration agents by the creation of racial profiles, saying that it is “inconceivably irreconcilable” with the constitution of the United States.

“We should not have to live in a country where the government can seize anyone who looks Latin, speaks Spanish and seems to work in a low salary job,” Sotomayor wrote.

His dissent is splashed with documented cases of immigration agents and customs compliance in Los Angeles this year using physical strength to detain people who suspected that they were illegally in the United States due to their location, works, apparent race or spoken language.

“Innumerable people in the Los Angeles area have been seized, thrown to the ground and handcuffed simply by their appearance, their accents and the fact that they win their lives doing manual work,” he continued. “Today, the court unnecessarily submits innumerable more to these same indignities.”

In his dissent, Sotomayor shouted Kavanaugh directly by characterizing ice raids in his opinion as “short stops to interrogate.” The reality is that agents are “confiscating people who use firearms, physical violence and warehouse arrests,” Sotomayor wrote. That includes American citizens who are “being seized, taken from their jobs and prevent them from working to keep their families themselves,” he continued.
