Suspended reporter after question about Charlie Kirk enrages the Maga congressman
A reporter of the Florida Politics website was suspended on Wednesday after asking a question about Charlie Kirk that the outraged representative Randy Fine (R-Fla.).
Kirk, a popular right -wing activist, was shot while talking at the University of Utah Valley. Before Kirk’s death was announced, Ag Gancarski sent a text message about the incident.
Fine shared a screenshot of exchange with the subtitle, “you don’t hate the media enough.”

The recently elected congressman, who had the support of Donald Trump, sponsored a bill when he was a state senator to allow the transport of hidden firearms on the university campus in Florida, according to Mediaite. But he was rejected in the committee.
With that presumably in mind, Gancarski said that “he was wondering if receiving a shot from Charlie Kirk affects his position in the transport of the campus? If the weapons control had been at stake, could the tragedy?”
“I learned that Charlie Kirk was shot 23 minutes ago. I am rejected that you would even think about asking a political question when everything that someone should be doing is praying for their survival,” Fine replied. “I never contact me again.”
Peter Schorsch, editor of Florida Politics, announced that “immediately suspended” the journalist shortly after.
“I cannot be the person I am, a critic of extremism both on the left and on the right, if those who work with me lack the basic empathy in horrible situations,” Schorsch wrote in X. “Perhaps other means can immediately go to the political ramifications of a tragedy as the shooting of a cultural leader, but that is not what I am.”

In response to a commentator who asked Schorsch if he believed in encouraging his staff to ask people in power, he replied: “I do it, but asking that kind of question while the victim is in critical care is not what I want to be.”
In another reaction reporter to Kirk’s shooting that caused controversy, MSNBC dismissed the political analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting that Kirk’s “words of hate” led to his murder.
