Shock video: dem -house candidate mistreated by ICE officer
A former journalist and current Democratic candidate in Congress in Illinois was violently thrown into the ground by an immigration and customs mused customs during a protest on Friday morning.
Kat Abughazaleh, a 26 -year -old girl who announced her candidacy for the ninth district of Illinois in March, joined other protesters outside an ice processing installation on Broadview when federal officers responded violently.
The video captured the moment around 6:30 am when an unidentified officer grabbed Abughazaleh on his chest, pushed her forward, lifted her and hit her on the pavement.

Abughazaleh told News themezone that later in the morning, she and other protesters tried to block a truck after the agents arrested a protester in what Abughazaleh described as a “kidnapping.”
“This has never happened in one of these protests, where they kidnapped a protester,” said Abughazaleh. “And we saw through the door that were in chains that were in a van. So all who were there joined the arms to block the truck and tried to rescue the person who exercised their rights of the first amendment.”
Federal agents responded by deploying tear gas and firing pepper balls to protesters. Abughazaleh said an agent said: “His rights of the first amendment are on the sidewalk.”
At least two people were arrested during the protest. And NBC Chicago reporter Jenn Schanz said that media members were also attacked with chemical agents.
“We just sprayed with: I don’t know if it was tear gas or pepper spray, I know they chopped my eyes,” said Schanz. “It was very difficult to breathe.”
“I and several other media members had to go, and run and have some water,” Shanz added. “My eyes keep giving a little.”
Abughazaleh told News themezone that when he was thrown to the ground, he fell on his hands and torn his fingers. It will probably hurt worse tomorrow, he said, but that will not deter it from protesting.
“Now is not the time to make a mistake on ice, not the moment of capitulating on the ice,” he said. “This installation is committing crimes against humanity. It is a Processing installation, so people are not supposed to remain for more than 12 hours at the same time. They are arrested for days or even weeks at the same time. It is horrible. They are not given beds, no hygienic products are given, they are not given hot foods. They are treated worse than animals. “

My group
In response to the video, the National Security Department published in X to warn that the protesters “will not stop” ice.
“Individuals and groups that prevent ice operations are put aside with vicious posters, traffickers of violent people and criminals,” said the post. “It will not prevent the forces of the order of the law of @ITIGOV and DHS to comply with our immigration laws.”
Abughazaleh, who previously worked for media issues that cover the right -wing extremism, said that ignoring authoritarianism “will bite you again in the ass.”
“If I have learned something through my work that covers erroneous information and misinformation and violent rhetoric to the right, it never stops with any group,” he said. “And capitular and put excuses will always bite it again in the ass, not to mention that the basic humanity of people is being raped.”
Abughazaleh said he is willing to be “mistreated by the officers” if that means defending the vulnerable.

“I think it’s time to stop being educated,” he said. “It’s time to scream. It’s time to be out there. It’s time to be willing to be mistreated by officers. Because he guess what people in that installation are supporting even worse shit at this time.”
