Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon is doubling down on rumors that President Donald Trump could seek a third presidential term in 2028.

While appearing on the show “Batya!” In a segment for NewsNation on Saturday, host Batya Ungar-Sargon asked Bannon if the 22nd Amendment, which states that no person shall be elected to the office of president more than twice, could be a “barrier” to Trump’s plans to run again.

“I have every intention of seeing President Trump on the ballot in 2028 and returning to office, to continue the great career he has had as the 47th president,” Bannon responded.

Bannon, who was let go by the Trump administration As White House chief strategist in 2017, he cryptically stated that there are “different alternatives” that could be pursued to get Trump back into office.

“But I think there are different alternatives to ensure that President Trump is on the ballot, and if he is on the ballot, he will win,” he added.

Speaking with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo in March, Bannon said they had already started “working” to get Trump re-elected.

“We’re working on it. I think we’ll have a couple of alternatives, let’s say that,” he told Cuomo. “We will see what the definition of term limits is.”

After Cuomo asked Bannon for clarification so people wouldn’t think he was “preparing an insurrection,” Bannon stood by his comments.

“I want people to have a clear idea of ​​where their head is at,” Cuomo said, to which Bannon responded: “We’ve had a better chance than Trump 2028, and we have a lot of things we’re working on there.”

Bannon added: “We’re not ready to talk about it publicly, but I think in a couple of months we will be.”

Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly floated the idea of ​​running for a third term since at least 2020.

Speaking to NBC News in March, Trump stated that he is not “joking” about the possibility.

The president told moderator Kristen Welker that he has been presented with ways to win a third term.

“There are methods by which it can be done,” Trump said.

When asked about a possible scenario in which Vice President JD Vance would run for office and then transfer the position to him, Trump responded that “that’s one” method.

“But there are others too,” Trump added, without offering further explanation.
