Marjorie Taylor Greene Gives Republicans Brutal Warning About 2026 Midterms
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is stepping up her criticism of GOP leadership during the government shutdown by warning that Republicans could lose the House if they don’t deliver on their promise to lower the cost of living.
“I can’t see the future, but I see that Republicans will lose the House if Americans continue to go paycheck to paycheck,” the lawmaker told Semafor in a Monday interview.
Voters “will definitely come into the midterms looking through the lens of their bank account,” he said.
Greene argued that health care “should be the number one issue we’re working on,” and predicted that it will be “one of the main issues” in the 2026 midterm elections.
The Affordable Care Act’s health insurance subsidies are set to expire at the end of the year, and if Republicans and Democrats don’t break their impasse, premiums will rise. more than doubleon average, for more than 20 million people.
Greene then suggested that President Mike Johnson (R-La.) had failed to deliver on the “so-called Republican plan” to fix America’s health care problems.
“Mike Johnson is at press conferences every morning saying we have pages and pages, or we have a Republican plan, yet I haven’t seen a single page of the so-called Republican plan,” he continued. “I haven’t heard a single GOP conference call on this issue.”

“I am not following the party line on this, nor playing loyalty games…I am carving my own path,” he wrote. “Not a single Republican in leadership has talked to us about this or given us a plan to help Americans deal with their DOUBLED health insurance premiums!!!”

When asked about Greene’s tweet, Johnson told News that he and his “friend” had a “thoughtful conversation” about her concerns.
“There are a lot of Republicans who have been working day and night on this,” he said earlier this month. “A lot of work has been done on this. We have hundreds of ideas, literally on the table, to fix health care. To make it more affordable for the American people.”
And he added: “A lot can be done, but consensus must be generated in a large and deliberative public body like this.”
Representatives for Johnson and Greene did not immediately respond to News themezone’s requests for comment.

Greene’s comments to Semafor came as she called out the House in an X post stating that she “does not respect the decision to refuse to work.”
“The House should be in session working,” he wrote Monday. “We should be finishing appropriations. Our committees should be working. We should pass bills that make President Trump’s executive orders permanent.”
