Bernie Sanders drops truth bomb about why Kamala Harris lost to Trump

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is being candid about why he thinks former Vice President Kamala Harris lost to President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential campaign.

Appearing on “The Tim Dillon Show” on Wednesday, Sanders claimed that Harris did not sufficiently address the needs of working-class Americans, and noted that Trump triumphed in the election because of “money in politics.”

The conversation began after host Tim Dillion said that “a lot of people” were “surprised” that the Democratic Party “presented” former President Joe Biden as a “candidate with clear cognitive problems.”

“And then, with no primary election, Kamala Harris, who was relatively unpopular in the Democratic primaries, was the candidate. And she only had 90 days to sell herself to the American people. And, by the way, she did a decent job during [only] having 90 days,” Dillion continued.

Dillion went on to ask Sanders: “Why is there such a cover-up of Biden’s mental deterioration? Why is there no primary election, even a quick one, after he is deemed unfit to run? Why is there no transparency there? That’s a huge problem.”

Calling Harris, whom he ran against in the 2020 presidential election, an “incredibly smart” and “centered” person, Sanders flatly told Dillion that her campaign’s decline was failing to address the real issues facing working-class Americans, including health care and housing.

“I think the reason he lost that election goes back to the point we discussed at the beginning of this podcast and that is money in politics,” he said. “Kamala didn’t run a campaign focused on the needs of the working class, she didn’t run a campaign focused on health care, on the economy and raising the minimum wage, on paid family and medical leave, on housing, on all the issues that working people are struggling with right now.”

The Vermont senator added: “And I think, in my opinion, her not focusing on those issues allowed Trump to win.”

Appearing on ABC’s “The View” last month, Harris was asked what she thought was the “main reason” she didn’t win the race.

“I think there are a lot of factors that played into the outcome of that election, but I think probably one of the biggest ones in my mind is that we just didn’t have enough time,” Harris responded.
