Trump wants the Justice Department to investigate his complaint
President Donald Trump urged the Justice Department to investigate voter fraud “with gusto” as he repeated his favorite complaint from the 2020 presidential race in a Sunday post on Truth Social.
Using the feds’ investigation into an illegal gambling ring with ties to professional basketball as a starting point, the president said, “Worse, NBA players cheat at cards, and probably a lot more, or Democrats cheat in elections.”
Trump, not the type to let go of an old grudge, added: “The 2020 presidential election being rigged and stolen is a much bigger SCANDAL. Look what happened to our country when a corrupt moron became our ‘President!’ “Now we know everything.”
Trump’s “big lie” about systemic and widespread voter fraud has been repeatedly debunked by government agencies, media outlets and even experts the president’s staff hired to specifically detect irregularities.
However, the president pushed for another investigation, writing, “I hope the Department of Justice pursues this with as much ‘relish’ as befits the greatest SCANDAL in American history! If not, it will happen again, including the upcoming midterm elections.”

Trump also warned Republicans to “get smart” and enact voter restrictions as soon as possible.
“No to mail-in voting or early voting, yes to voter ID!” he wrote. “Look at how totally dishonest the California Proposition Vote is! Millions of ballots are ‘submitted’.” GET SMART REPUBLICANS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!”
It’s unclear why Trump decided to use scary quotes when mentioning California’s special election, where voters must decide whether or not to approve a redistricting plan that would likely give the state five more Democratic seats in the House of Representatives.
Starting in 2021, every registered voter in the Golden State is automatically sent a mail-in ballot, regardless of party affiliation.
When it comes to voter ID, 36 states (both red and blue) require people to show some form of identification when they go to the polls.

Trump’s public push for the Justice Department to investigate the 2020 election comes just days after The Wall Street Journal reported that the White House had hired dedicated “Stop the Steal” lawyer Kurt Olsen as a “special government employee.”
According to officials, Olsen is already asking “intelligence agencies for information about the 2020 election” and also intends to remove government employees who he “believes are disloyal” to the president.
