Former Obama adviser struggles not to vomit after Trump was compared to an ancient masterpiece
CNN commentator Van Jones said he nearly vomited after his network colleague David Urban compared President Donald Trump to the “Colossus of Rhodes” in a rant of praise.
During Monday’s episode of “Anderson Cooper 360°,” host Cooper led a discussion with Jones, Urban and former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin about the president and his supporters repeatedly raising the idea of him serving a third term.
“Steve Bannon He speaks mysteriously of: “We have this plan.” “I don’t know what kind of plan he might have,” Urban, a former senior Trump campaign adviser, began.
Earlier this month, Bannon, another of Trump’s former advisers, reinforced the rumors that the politician could try to manipulate his way to an additional term in 2028.
Arguing that there are “many different alternatives” that can get Trump re-elected while appearing in the “They are afraid!” to NewsNation, Bannon said that “he fully intends[s] to see “Trump” on the 2028 ballot and back in office.”
“[If Trump is] at the polls, he will win,” the conservative expert bluntly added at the time.
Urban pointed out to Cooper and his fellow panelists that Trump could “amend” the constitution and “challenge” the 22nd Amendment in court, which states that “No person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice.”
Noting that revising the Constitution is the only method by which Trump could return to office, the lobbyist added: “It seems pretty clear.”
Urban went on to claim that Trump is “making a mockery of a primary election.” [election]” between Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marc Rubio after the president commented earlier in the day that Vance and Rubio could be an “unstoppable” ticket for 2028.
“Don’t let anyone be fooled into thinking that Donald Trump is going anywhere,” Urban declared. “He may not be president, but he will be sitting in Bedminster or Palm Beach.”

He continued: “Can you imagine if you were President JD Vance and every day you woke up to a slew of Truth Social posts and tweets about Donald Trump reviewing your performance from the night before?”
Predicting that “Trump will remain important on the stage of American politics and global politics until he is no longer,” Urban appeared to compare Trump to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
“I mean, the guy is the Colossus of Rhodes and will remain that way,” Urban added, apparently referring to the enormous bronze statue of the Greek sun god Helios that was reportedly destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC.
Urban’s comments didn’t sit well with Jones, who was a special adviser to former President Barack Obama.
After Anderson asked Jones “how seriously” he took Urban’s comments, the political analyst and Trump critic responded, “Sorry, I’m trying not to throw up into the air listening to this from Urban.”
“Are you imagining the Colossus of Rhodes?” Cooper then asked Jones as Urban laughed.

“Just everything, man,” Jones said. “But look, I take it seriously simply because there doesn’t seem to be a lot of respect for the Constitution, for the rule of law on the part of this White House and its people.”
