Filmmaker Michael Moore had some strong words on Substack for the media and politicians who launch “racist and disgusting attacks” against New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

“The people of New York City, my home away from home, are about to do something historic,” Moore wrote Tuesday. “On November 4, 2025, one week from today, we will elect Zohran Kwame Mamdani as mayor of the largest city in the United States.”

“It will be nothing short of miraculous,” he continued.

Moore began by praising Mamdani for putting affordable housing, public transportation and city-owned food at the center of his progressive campaign, arguing that these are safety nets “that any sensible, humane and civilized city (and country)” should have.

He also praised Mamdani for what he sarcastically called the “shocking” position that Palestinians are human beings who do not deserve to be “exterminated.”

“For these reasons, the political power structure in New York and across the country has been trying to stop him,” Moore wrote. “They rallied around disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary, but Mamdani crushed him by double digits.”

“And with a week until the election, they are desperately doing everything they have to shut down not only Mamdani, but also the movements on which Mamdani’s campaign is built,” he continued. “The good news is… not working! He is ahead in the polls.”

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (R) recently appeared to agree with a radio host that his mayoral opponent, Zohran Mamdani (L), is a terrorist sympathizer.

“The bad news is this: in recent weeks, a new threat has emerged,” Moore continued. “Cuomo’s desperate campaign and desperate media think they have an ace up their sleeve to derail Mamdani: The fact that he is… MUSLIM!!!”

“From overt violent threats directed at Zohran and his family, to hateful and bigoted television advertisements, to racist and disgusting attacks from the media and his opponents, the level of hatred is sickening,” the filmmaker added.

During a radio interview with Sid Rosenberg last week, Cuomo laughed when the conservative radio host said Mamdani would “applaud” another 9/11-style attack if it occurred. Meanwhile, Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa baselessly claimed that Mamdani supports a “global jihad.”

Moore urged his readers to watch a speech Mamdani gave at the Islamic Cultural Center in the Bronx last week in which he condemned those who attack him for his faith.

“And to the nearly one million Muslims in New York City who are currently being bombarded with Islamophobic TV ads and billboards: I’m behind you. We’re all behind you! And to the bigots, Islamophobes, haters, and warmongers: ENOUGH! IT’S OVER!” Moore concluded.

Early voting for the New York City mayoral election has already begun.
