The epic finale to a nearly decade-long saga, an Oscar-winning filmmaker’s take on a classic monster tale, and an invitation to Eddie Murphy’s house—these are just a few of the highlights of what’s coming to Netflix this month.
The most exciting launch on television is, perhaps, the final season of “Stranger Things,” which, after a three-year hiatus, begins with the first batch of episodes of Volume 1. The sci-fi phenomenon will conclude with Volumes 2 and 3 in December.
Meanwhile, for the movies, Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” adaptation, years in the making, starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth, finally hits streamers after much anticipation. In addition, Netflix will premiere revealing documentaries about two monumental figures in entertainment: Eddie Murphy and Selena Quintanilla.
There are also a handful of fan-favorite series returning with new seasons, including “The Vince Staples Show,” “A Man on the Inside” and the “Selling Sunset” spinoff “Selling the OC.”

Netflix’s latest Japanese epic sets its sights on the days after the glory of the samurai. In “Last Samurai Standing,” “292 fallen samurai, facing poverty, a pandemic, and a new regime that has turned them into relics, are drawn into a violent game called K odoku, in which the last remaining competitor will claim a life-changing cash prize,” the logline states. The six-episode series is based on Shogo Imamura’s best-selling novel, “Ikusagami.”

Ted Danson returns to the case in season 2 of “A Man on the Inside.” The comedy stars the actor as Charles, a retired teacher turned private detective, who gets a new lease on life when he is recruited as an undercover agent. In the second season, Charles is tasked with going undercover on the Wheeler College campus, where he is joined by some new faces.
Danson, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz and Stephen McKinley Henderson return for season 2. New cast members include Gary Cole, Michaela Conlin, Max Greenfield, Sam Huntington, Jason Mantzoukas, Constance Marie, David Strathairn, Jill Talley, Madison Hu, Lisa Gilroy, Linda Park and Mary Steenburgen.
