Major Artist Snubbed AGAIN by Grammys After Announcing Awards Show
It looks like The Weeknd is going to have a rough weekend.
The “Blinding Lights” artist was snubbed by the Recording Academy once again, after the 35-year-old artist failed to be nominated for a single Grammy during live nomination announcements on Friday.
Fans were shocked after the star-studded list of presenters, which included Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Sam Smith, Doechii and more, didn’t once mention the artist’s 2025 album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.”
News has reached out to representatives for The Weeknd for comment.
The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has previously spoken about his disdain for the Recording Academy.
In 2020, his critically acclaimed album “After Hours” was excluded from the awards show, despite also achieving great commercial success.

“The Grammys are still corrupt,” he said on Twitter, now X, at the time. “You owe transparency to me, my fans and the industry.”
He later told The New York Times in a statement before the awards ceremony in 2021 that “due to secret committees” he “would no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys.”
It seemed like things were looking up between the artist and the Recording Academy, as The Weeknd appeared at the awards show earlier this year and performed two songs alongside Playboi Carti.
Despite The Weeknd’s absence from the ceremonies, you can tune in to see who takes home a coveted Grammy at the 2026 Grammy Awards, taking place on Sunday, February 1 in Los Angeles.
The 2026 awards show will include two new Grammy categories for the first time: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, expressed his excitement about the two new categories earlier this year.
He told Grammy.com that “these are much-needed updates that ensure those who are making significant contributions to the musical process are properly recognized and have the opportunity to be celebrated on Music’s Biggest Night.”
