Greg Gutfeld makes surprising comment about his feelings for Whoopi Goldberg
News personality Greg Gutfeld claims he’s a bigger fan of Whoopi Goldberg than some might think.
“I love Whoopi,” he told the New York Times in a wide-ranging interview published Saturday.
The host of “Gutfeld!” and “The Five” made the comment while stating that he has no ill will toward the people on the receiving end of his often harsh taunts.
“I really like the people I make fun of,” he said. “In fact, if you want to know the people I don’t like, it’s the people I don’t make fun of.”
“So you must love the women of ‘The View,’” responded journalist David Marchese.
Gutfeld has repeatedly mocked the hosts of “The View,” widely considered a liberal talk show.
“Their brains are small, but who is the dumbest of them all?” he asked in a clip from last year.
In another, criticizing Goldberg for controversial comments comparing life in Iran to living in America as a black person, he said, “Whoopi has been caught once again, being even dumber than we thought.” (He likes to rhyme).
However, he indicated that Marchese’s sarcastic comment was actually correct.
“Yes,” Gutfeld said. “I love, love Whoopi.”

“Rosie O’Donnell, you must be a big fan?” —Marchese insisted.
“Yes, Rosie, I love her,” the right-wing commenter said, before adding: “I make fun of everyone I love, and relentlessly.”
As the conversation continued, Gutfeld stated that the type of ridicule he throws out is different from the type seen on the left.
“Mockery and ridicule are not ‘you’re Hitler’ or ‘you’re a fascist’ or an authoritarian,” he said. “If I insult you too much it’s because it’s obviously a joke. But I don’t put a target on your back.”

Marchese called that stance “a little disingenuous,” quoting a line from one of Gutfeld’s own books that the interviewer cited as: “The left is a dumb, fascist mother.”
Gutfeld said he did not remember the line, but stated, “I imagine it was in some kind of hyperbole paragraph that I was having fun with.”
