Trump turns meeting with Syrian leader into embarrassing side show in Cologne
Donald Trump’s meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa took a strange turn when Trump sprayed his counterpart with cologne and then asked him how many wives he has.
In a video going viral on social media, Trump on Monday proudly showed off a bottle of men’s fragrance, sprayed it on himself, then on al-Sharaa, and then on other nearby men.
“It’s the best fragrance,” Trump declared.
Handing the bottle to al-Sharaa, he said: “Just take that one. And then the other one is for your wife.”
“How many wives?” Trump then asked, laughing. “One? With you guys, you never know, right?” He joked, patting al-Sharaa on the shoulder.

The fragrance Trump sprayed on the men is unclear, although it appeared to be one of his own Trump-branded colognes, which currently sell online for up to $249 a bottle.
Al-Sharaa was named president of Syria in January after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, ending the Assad family’s 54-year rule. Also known as Abu Mohammed al-Golani, al-Sharaa had long-documented ties to Al Qaeda and joined insurgents fighting US forces in Iraq.
