Chadwick Boseman will get his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The late actor Chadwick Boseman will be honored posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next Thursday, five years after his death from colon cancer at age 43.
Boseman will receive the 2,828th star on the Walk of Fame, which covers about 20 blocks on and around Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced.
Billboard was the first to report the news, noting that director Ryan Coogler, who worked with Boseman on 2018’s “Black Panther,” and Viola Davis, who starred with Boseman in his last film, 2020’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” will speak at the ceremony.
Simone Ledward-Boseman, Boseman’s widow, will accept the award on his behalf, Billboard reported.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martínez said in a statement. “His powerful performances and lasting impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”
Plans to honor Boseman on the Walk of Fame were first announced last year.
Boseman rose to fame playing real-life black icons Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall on screen. But his career-defining role came when he played T’Challa in Coogler’s “Black Panther,” a film that redefined the superhero genre and broke numerous records, including becoming the first film by a black director to surpass $1 billion at the box office.
Her performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” earned her her first Academy Award nomination after her death in 2020.
