White House staff reportedly rejected President Donald Trump’s wish to install a massive chandelier in the Oval Office over fears it could bring down the ceiling.

According to CNN pro-MAGA expert Scott Jennings, Trump approached him with the idea of hanging a lavish chandelier “through the shield” from the ceiling, an exchange Jennings recalled in his new book “A Common Sense Revolution: How Donald Trump Tore into Washington and Fought for Western Civilization.”

The Daily Mail on Sunday published an excerpt from the book, for which Trump personally chose the cover image. Read the full excerpt here.

Jennings wrote that he told Trump that the chandelier “could be useful at night,” though he said he thought to himself at the time that he wasn’t sure the Oval Office “needed more lighting fixtures.” Still, he added, “I thought, if anyone knows where to put a chandelier, it’s this guy.”

But weeks later, Jennings said he learned that “White House staff investigated the possibility but concluded that the roof could not support the weight.”

Elsewhere in the excerpt, Jennings suggested that Trump’s constant redecoration “is a metaphor for the way he has governed in his second term: adding new elements at a pace so rapid that almost no one can keep up.”

Trump has already completely and controversially bedazzled the Oval Office, torn down the East Wing to make way for a $300 million ballroom, and ripped up the rose garden lawn to create a Mar-a-Lago-style patio.
