Drake asks the label why
Drake turned on a bitter universal music group after updating his demand for defamation against him to affirm that Kendrick Lamar’s high profile appearances in the Grammys and the Super Bowl serve as a clear evidence that the label intentionally tried to “kill” his character to obtain financial profits.
In a one -one complaint filed on Wednesday and obtained by News, the Canadian rapper argued that UMG’s actions from the original demand of January have only fed false and harmful accusations that portray it as a sexual predator.
The lawsuit states that by facilitating Lamar’s performances in these “megapoled events”, UMG “cheated” the public to believe that Drake was a pedophile, hoping to generate more attention and listeners for Lamar’s music.

The presentation alleges that UMG turned the mid -February Super Bowl show, one of the most watched events in the world, in a show designed to damage Drake’s reputation.
He describes the performance as “the first, and hopefully will be the last part -time show of the orchestrated Super Bowl to kill the character of another artist.”
A key aspect of the demand focuses on the omission of the word “pedophile” of Lamar’s performance of the DISS track “No Like Us” during the event.
The complaint argues that the absence of any other modification to the song shows that the NFL and its transmission partners recognized that the accusation was “unacceptable”, but UMG continued to distribute the uncensored version for its own benefit.
In a statement to News, UMG quickly dismissed Drake’s demand for defamation, and the new accusations, such as a “wrong and merit without merit for all artists and creative expression.”
“Drake, without a doubt, one of the most successful artists in the world with whom we have enjoyed a successful 16 -year -old relationship, is being deceived by its legal representatives to pursue an absurd legal step after another,” said the statement, calling the ongoing litigation “silly and frivolous legal theatics.”

The music giant also said that the “reckless demand” had failed and was in itself responsible for significant damage to Drake’s reputation and finances.
With regard to a motion of discovery granted earlier this month, the UMG statement warned: “As the old saying says, ‘be careful with what he wants.”
Drake’s legal team replied hours later, telling News that UMG’s response was “a desperate attempt to turn the narrative and deviate from the truth.”
By turning UMG’s sinister warning about the discovery that Drake’s team said “they have nothing to hide.”
“It is not Drake who should worry; it is UMG’s current leadership,” the statement added, calling the CEO and company president, Lucian Graininge and Interscope, the Interscope record executive, John Janick.

“UMG drains the artists for their profits, then discard them,” they said about the company, which has represented Drake since 2009, but signed Lamar in 2020.
“UMG said: ‘Be careful with what you ask,” the statement concluded. “Drake knows exactly what he asked: truth and responsibility.”
