Trump has ended his midnight crisis
President Donald Trump was apparently up late Wednesday and didn’t like what he saw on TV as he delivered a midnight message to talk show host and former foe Jimmy Kimmel.
“Why is ABC Fake News keeping Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY LOW TV RATINGS, on the air?” Trump wrote on Truth Social at 12:49 a.m. Thursday morning. “Why do the television unions tolerate it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get that bum off the air!!!”
Trump’s message came after Kimmel spent 10 minutes of his Wednesday night monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to attack many of the president’s sore spots at once: his wealth, his family, his loyalty and his connections to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once a close friend.
Trump, who promised during the 2024 campaign to release Epstein’s files, spent most of the year trying to block them. When it became clear that Congress was going to pass a bill calling for the release anyway, he stated that he supported it, although he could have made the files public on his own, at any time, without Congress.

The bill passed overwhelmingly and headed to Trump’s desk.
“Now, normally when Trump gets a bill, he goes bankrupt and doesn’t pay it,” Kimmel joked.
This one was signed by Trump.
“Trump hasn’t been this nervous about signing something since Don Jr.’s birth certificate,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel also noted that many of Trump’s biggest allies challenged him on this case.
“But this has also been a blow to Trump because some of his most loyal footlickers betrayed him,” Kimmel said.
The monologue also ended with an animated penny, bitter about the end of the coin’s production, saying “fuck Donald Trump.”
It’s unclear how much, if any, of that Trump caught. But something about Kimmel triggered him so much that he had to write about it to the world at almost 1 in the morning.
It is the second time in a week that Trump has attacked a late-night television host, as he also attacked “Late Night” host Seth Meyers over the weekend.
“Meyers has no talent and NBC should fire him IMMEDIATELY!” Trump got angry at Truth Social.
Trump has a long history of going after late-night hosts for mocking him, with Kimmel being one of his most frequent targets. He reportedly attempted to censor Kimmel during his first term, often attacked him by name during the 2024 campaign and, in September, celebrated when ABC briefly suspended Kimmel over comments he made about the alleged murderer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
He was furious when Kimmel returned to television less than a week later and threatened legal action against ABC.
Trump’s recent attack on Kimmel was one of three messages the president posted after midnight.
He also boasted about having had one of the 10 best opening months for a president in history “by most accounts,” and in another post praised soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, who visited him at the White House earlier that day, calling him “smart” and “cool.”
