Trump complains
President Donald Trump once again accused Ukraine of being ungrateful for its efforts to end Russia’s war against the country as top Ukrainian, American and European officials met in Geneva, Switzerland, on Sunday to discuss the US peace proposal to end the war.
In a heated Truth Social post on Sunday, the president, who has defended the 28 point plancriticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and key US allies in Europe, arguing that “with strong and adequate US and Ukrainian LEADERSHIP,” the “violent and terrible” war would not have happened.
Trump has repeatedly blamed Zelenskyy for triggering the war between Ukraine and Russia.
While speaking about Zelenskyy at the White House in April, Trump declared: “You don’t start a war against someone 20 times bigger than you and then expect people to give you some missiles.”
Angry in the post that the war “started long before” he took office for a second term, Trump criticized the “Sleepy Joe Biden Administration” for making things worse.
The right-wing leader then reiterated his repeated and false claims that the 2020 election, in which he lost to former President Joe Biden, was “RIGGED AND STOLEN,” adding: “[that’s] the only thing radical left democrats are good at.”
“There would be no war between Ukraine and Russia, as there was none, not even a mention, during my first term,” he continued.
Trump claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin “would never have attacked” and launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 if he were president at the time.
“It was only when he saw Sleepy Joe in action that [Putin] He said, ‘Now’s my chance!’ The rest is history, and so it continues,” he wrote. “I INHERITED A WAR THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED, A WAR THAT IS A LOSER FOR EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY FOR THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIED SO UNNECESSARILY.”

Concluding his message, Trump criticized Ukraine’s leaders for expressing “ZERO GRATITUDE FOR OUR EFFORTS” before criticizing European countries that he said continue to buy oil from Russia.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly thanked the United States for its support amid the country’s war against Russia.
Trump also accused “corrupt Joe” [Biden]” of giving weapons to Ukraine “free, free, free.”
“THE UNITED STATES CONTINUES TO SELL MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF WEAPONS IN DOLLARS TO NATO, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO UKRAINE (CROOKED JOE GAVE IT ALL, FREE, FREE, FREE, INCLUDING “BIG” MONEY!). GOD BLESS ALL THE LIVES THAT HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE HUMAN CATASTROPHE!” Trump added.
Trump’s scathing comments came after Zelenskyy posted on Sunday that “additional work” was being carried out to ensure Ukrainian perspectives are taken into account in the proposal.
Trump said Friday that kyiv has until Thursday to accept his 28-point proposal, which requires Ukraine to cede territory – and is significantly more favorable to Russia – or face losing US military support.
The controversial peace proposal has faced rejection from European leaders.
In a follow-up on Saturday, Trump indicated that his proposal was not his final offer and that the plan is still open to negotiation.
Zelenskyy warned Friday that Ukraine faces a difficult choice amid Trump’s demands that kyiv accept the White House peace plan that would force it to sacrifice territory to Russia and make other difficult concessions.
Trump’s top diplomat, Marco Rubio, has also been accused by lawmakers of labeling the plan “Russia’s wish list.” A State Department spokesperson denied the allegations as “blatantly false.”
