A police investigation has officially been launched following reports of a drug incident involving actress Tara Reid at a Chicago-area hotel over the weekend.
The Rosemont Department of Public Safety issued a statement confirming that Reid had filed a police report on Tuesday regarding a medical emergency that had taken place at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, at approximately 12:39 a.m. Sunday.
“The Rosemont Department of Public Safety understands the seriousness of the reported allegations and is committed to investigating this incident thoroughly,” the statement said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times and other outlets. “At this time, we are in communication with the hotel to gather as much video surveillance as possible. As this incident was just reported and is still open, no further information is available at this time.”
A rep for Reid, best known for her portrayal of Vicky Lathum on “American Pie,” did not immediately respond to News’s request for comment. However, the rep issued a statement Tuesday to E! News noted that Reid was “recovering” and had requested “privacy during this traumatic time.”
“We also urge everyone to be careful, take care of their drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone,” the statement continued. “She will have no further comment at this time.”

Reid, whose credits also include “Days of Our Lives” and “Sharknado,” was visiting the Chicago area ahead of her scheduled appearance Sunday at the Chicago Sports Spectacular alongside one of her “American Pie” co-stars, Thomas Ian Nicholas.
However, news of the alleged incident broke when TMZ posted a short video of Reid looking disoriented in the lobby of the DoubleTree hotel as an unidentified man attempts to help her into a wheelchair. Later in the clip, she can be seen being taken out of the hotel on a stretcher by paramedics.
In a separate interview with TMZ on Tuesday, Reid said he had ordered a glass of white wine at the hotel bar but left briefly to smoke a cigarette. When he returned to the bar, he noticed that a napkin had been placed over the top of the glass.
“Without even finishing my drink, I just passed out, and before I knew it, I was in the hospital, eight hours later,” he recalled. “I can’t even explain it, because I don’t even know what happened.”
Reid said she regained consciousness at the hospital, where doctors informed her she had been drugged, but did not divulge further details. She also noted that she was able to attend the Chicago Sports Spectacular as scheduled after being released from the hospital.
“This whole thing is really scary. I’m glad I was in a public place… and that there was security there to help me,” she added.
