Dominic McLaughlin, who will star in HBO’s reimagined Harry Potter universe, shares the personal touch of magic he received from the original series’ star Daniel Radcliffe.

“I got a letter from the man himself, Daniel Radcliffe. It was crazy,” McLaughlin said. during a recent interview with the BBC program “Saturday Mash-Up! Live”.

He vividly remembered the moment: “I was on the train back to Glasgow, because we were going home, and my dad called me on the train and gave me this letter. I read it, got to the end and it said, ‘Dan R.'”

The young actor said he had to “stay calm” because he thought he was “going crazy.”

McLaughlin also stated that filming for the new series “is going very well.”

“I became good friends with everyone,” he said. “It’s great to be there.”

Earlier this month, during an appearance on “Good Morning America,” Radcliffe revealed that she had written to the child actor.

“I wrote to Dominic,” Radcliffe revealed. “I sent him a letter and he wrote me back a very sweet note.”

She added that she hopes her legacy does not overshadow the next generation of witches and wizards.

“I don’t want to be a specter in these kids’ lives at all,” he said. “I just wanted to write to him and say, ‘I hope you have a great time and even better than me.’”
