The beloved actor humbly responds to Quentin Tarantino
Actor Matthew Lillard vulnerably responded to Quentin Tarantino’s unexpected insult over the weekend.
The beloved actor was the recipient of the famed director’s random call during an appearance on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast” earlier this month.
While Tarantino directed most of his vitriol at Paul Dano, whom he called “the weakest fucking actor in SAG” and “the lamest idiot in the world,” he later lumped two other people together.
“I don’t care about him, I don’t care about Owen Wilson and I don’t care about Matthew Lillard,” Tarantino added.
Lillard responded over the weekend, while appearing at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio.

“Quentin Tarantino said this week that he didn’t like me as an actor,” Lillard said in a now-viral TikTok video, as the crowd began booing Tarantino.
“It hurts your feelings,” the “Scooby Doo” actor said, adding that “it sucks.”
“I wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. I wouldn’t say that to someone who is an A-list actor in Hollywood,” the 55-year-old added. “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms. So it’s humiliating and it hurts.”
Many actors and directors have come to the defense of Dano and Lillard after Tarantino’s comments.
James Gunn, who managed Lillard in the past, posted a message of support for the actor on Threads on Monday.
“Just a few pics over the years with one of my favorite guys (and actors) @matthewlillard,” she wrote. “There is no reason.”
