MS NOW host Rachel Maddow says President Donald Trump will not remain in office once his current term ends, despite what he has openly suggested, and urges those who have supported or surrendered to Trump to “save” his reputation while they can.

Maddow addressed it on Monday’s episode of “The Best People with Nicolle Wallace,” saying News “needs to fire” Stephen Colbert from his job on the “Late Show,” while colleges that have been intimidated by Trump should change course, because he won’t be here forever.

“It’s not too late,” he said. “Trump is not going to end up being the dictator of this country.”

Maddow continued, “And when he tries, he looks at all these institutions and all these people in our country that made a stupid decision to try to be on his side when he takes power.”

Trump’s pressure campaign has included seizing editorial power over museum exhibits, taking control of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and withholding federal funds to bully private universities.

He also publicly celebrated the cancellation of “The Late Show,” which came after Colbert mocked News parent company Paramount Global on air for settling a $16 million lawsuit with Trump.

“He’s not going to win,” Maddow said of Trump.

The MS NOW host added that there is still time “to undo your bad decision” to vote for Trump and support his administration.

“And maybe you can save your reputation, and your descendants won’t spend generations to come denying that you were one of them,” he said.

Maddow went on to criticize Trump’s racist rhetoric and his administration’s continued military strikes against what she claims are drug trafficking ships in the Pacific and Caribbean. He added that the tide of public opinion is already changing, as a recent Gallup poll showed that only 36% of respondents approve of the way the president is doing his job.

“That’s what happened, News,” Maddow said. “That’s what’s happened, Paramount, since you decided you’d please Donald Trump by taking Stephen Colbert off the air. Maybe you won’t do that. Maybe now you can see where the story is going to end up.”
