Usha Vance Has an Interesting Perspective on JD Vance Marriage Rumors
Usha Vance is opening up about the marriage rumors that have plagued her and her husband, Vice President JD Vance, for the past few months.
“I think one of the really funny things about this life is that people really like to read tea leaves, and there’s kind of an industry that constructs stories about everything they can imagine,” the second lady said in a Dec. 8 interview with USA Today that was published over the weekend.
Speculation about the Vances’ marriage increased after the lawyer was seen without her wedding ring in November, weeks after JD Vance and Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk made headlines for exchanging an intimate hug at an event honoring Kirk’s murdered husband, Charlie Kirk.
About the missing ring, Usha Vance said she simply wears it “when I wear it, and not when I don’t wear it.”
“Sometimes I wear it, and other times I just went to the gym and took a shower and I don’t wear it,” she said, explaining that she and her husband find it “kind of funny” that people are interested in this kind of thing.
“I’d rather live in my marriage and in the real world, and less in the fever dreams that surround it. I mean, it’s kind of a family joke, but it’s also not something I spend a lot of time thinking about,” she explained.

A spokesperson for the second lady previously responded to ring rumors in late November, telling People magazine that Usha Vance is “a mother of three young children, who washes a lot of dishes, takes a lot of baths, and sometimes forgets her ring.”
JD Vance later told NBC News in December that he and his wife enjoy the speculation about the two of them.
“With anything in life, you take the good with the bad,” the “Hillbilly Elegy” author told the outlet on Dec. 5. “You accept that there are some sacrifices and that some very good things come along with it. But our marriage is stronger than ever.”
