Tucker Carlson stinks at Trump’s speech prediction and gets roasted
Tucker Carlson wrongly predicted that President Donald Trump would declare war on Venezuela in his speech on Wednesday.
The president spewed lies about the economy and attacked the Biden administration, but no, not Venezuela.
The former News host poked fun and sparked some conspiracy theories.
Amid the backdrop of the Trump administration escalating legally questionable attacks on suspected drug trafficking ships from Venezuela and even seizing a Venezuelan oil tanker, Carlson said he received a tip.
“This is what I know so far, which is that members of Congress were informed yesterday that a war is coming and that the president will announce it in the address to the nation tonight at 9 o’clock,” Carlson told Andrew Napolitano on the “Judging Freedom” podcast. “By the way, who knows if that will actually happen. I don’t know, and I never want to overstate what I know, which is pretty limited overall, but a member of Congress told me this morning.”
Nice try with the hedge, but he still gave a pretty bold report.
At least one U.S. senator seemed to catch wind of the rumors.
“Well, at least @potus didn’t announce that we are going to war in Venezuela,” wrote Sen. Rubén Gallego (D-Ariz.) on X, formerly Twitter. “I have no idea what the purpose of the speech was.”

Others directly mocked Carlson.
“Imagine being so wrong,” one MAGA supporter wrote with a video of Carlson making his claim.
“So much for the brilliant Tucker Carlson,” another person blurted out.
Another summed up Carlson’s embarrassment with a Homer Simpson meme.
Meanwhile, others saw something else in Carlson’s incorrect report.
There were several posts suggesting that a deliberate disinformation campaign was underway, by Trump or his allies.
“President Trump masterfully orchestrated the mother of all fakes, using Tucker Carlson, whether consciously or unconsciously, to say that a war was coming in Venezuela,” one commenter surmised. “He skillfully tricked all the major news networks into airing a full recap of his impressive first-year accomplishments during prime time… He truly is the KING of the trolls, cementing his status as the most astute and effective media manipulator to ever occupy the Oval Office.”
Former News themezone employee Ryan Grim of Drop Site News offered another possibility:
“So Trump must have decided against whatever crazy thing he planned to announce? Is that the only explanation?”
