Steelers star DK Metcalf’s social media post signals excitement as NFL suspension ends before playoffs

The Pittsburgh Steelers are headed to the NFL playoffs after a thrilling finish to Week 18, and one of their stars is clearly happy that he wasn’t allowed to play in the team’s crucial final regular-season games due to a suspension.
DK Metcalf was suspended two games for punching a fan during the Steelers’ game against the Detroit Lions, and his availability for the 2025 season was reduced to a 44-yard field goal by Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop on Sunday night to determine who would win the AFC North and who would return home for the year.
Loop’s kick went wide right, and Metcalf will in turn face the Houston Texans on “Monday Night Football” during the wild card round.

Metcalf decided to post a parody of comedian Druski on his Instagram Story on Monday, expressing his happiness. In the sketch, Druski plays a character who just got out of jail, which Metcalf clearly compares to his two-game suspension.
Druski reunites with friends again in the play, while saying “devil in the house.” Metcalf will likely feel the same as he enters the Steelers facility this week to prepare for their playoff game.

The Steelers didn’t have to wait for Loop to miss that kick on Sunday night to determine their playoff spot, as a win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 17 would have sealed the deal. But without Metcalf, Aaron Rodgers and company struggled against the Browns defense, which included three passes from the four-time MVP quarterback to Márquez Valdés-Scantling late in the game that fell incomplete in the end zone.
Steelers fans couldn’t help but think about what could have happened if Metcalf was the one receiving those fadeaway balls like he has done all season.

Instead, Week 18 was big when the Ravens defeated the Green Bay Packers and made the matchup a winner-take-all scenario at Acrisure Stadium. Fortunately for Metcalf, his teammates picked him up, including Calvin Austin, who scored the winning touchdown with 55 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
However, the Steelers were on tenterhooks after reliable kicker Chris Boswell scored the extra point, leaving the Ravens a chance to stay on the field.
Pittsburgh escaped with the victory, but the challenge is even greater now as they will have to face the Texans, the best defense in the NFL in yards allowed per game (277.2) and the second best in points allowed (17.4).

Rodgers and the rest of the Steelers offense will rely on Metcalf to get the job done, and while he’s joking a bit now, he surely understands the pressure that’s on him in the playoffs.
