Chris Noth is shrugging off the heated discourse surrounding his response to an Instagram comment about his former “Sex and the City” co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
On Wednesday, the actor shared a brief statement on Instagram in which he called the uproar “a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
“My offhand and slightly sarcastic response to an online comment seems to have stirred up a tempest in a teapot,” he wrote. “It’s not news. It’s not worth all this discussion.”

Last week, Noth surprised longtime “SATC” fans when he seemed to echo the sentiments of one of his social media followers, who commented on his New Year’s-themed workout post with a swipe at Parker.
“You mean fcuk sjp and his award right? lol,” the person wrote on Instagram, to which Noth replied, “Right.”

Noth, whose credits include “Law & Order” and “The Good Wife,” played Mr. Big, the old love interest of Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), in all six seasons of HBO’s “Sex and the City” and in the franchise’s two feature films.
The actor reprized the role of Mr. Big in “And Just Like That…”, HBO Max’s divisive “Sex and the City” revival series. His tenure on that show was brief, as Mr. Big died of a heart attack in the Season 1 premiere.
Noth’s departure from the franchise, however, was marred by controversy. Shortly after the release of “And Just Like That…” in 2021, the actor was accused of sexual assault by two women. Although Noth deemed the allegations “categorically false,” the scenes featuring Mr. Big in the season 1 finale of “And Just Like That…” were removed before the episode aired in 2022.
By all indications, Noth appears to remain on good terms with Parker. Speaking to The Guardian in 2021, she described their relationship as “very close” while defending Parker amid reports of a long-running feud between her and another “SATC” actor, Kim Cattrall.
After a brief hiatus from Hollywood, Noth returned to acting last year in the horror film “The Block,” co-starring Jack Falahee of “How to Get Away with Murder.”
