AOC just discusses how ICE goons got so much money, and it’s infuriating
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s latest IDGAF moment has gone viral, and for good reason.
On Monday, the freelance interview with the New York Democrat was uploaded to
“What should the red lines be when it comes to ICE funding? When it comes to [The Department of Homeland Security]? Should there be policies or a reduction in funding? The Independent’s Eric Michael García asked Ocasio-Cortez.
“My position has always been clear that ICE funding should be cut,” he responded. “We’re seeing what they’re doing with this reckless explosion of funding and, mind you, so everyone knows…”
The lawmaker then looked directly into the camera. “I want everyone to understand: Health care cuts are what’s paying for this.”

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” the passage of which led to The longest government shutdown in US history. and a massive reduction in the social safety net, including a more than 1 billion dollars cuts to Medicaid. Billions of dollars now going into Trump’s strategy mass deportation agenda.
“All that extra money that everyone is paying now in their premiums, all that extra money that they are paying… almost a trillion dollars in health care, was taken away and given to ICE,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“So understand how these dots connect,” he continued. “You get screwed by paying a bunch of thugs on the street who shoot mothers in the face. That’s what this administration is doing.”

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother, who was shot and killed by an ICE officer last week.
After Good’s murder, the Department of Homeland Security characterized her as one of several “violent rioters” blocking ICE officers during a targeted operation. DHS claimed Good had “turned his vehicle into a weapon” in an attempt to run over an officer.
However, videos of the incident indicate that Good was trying to leave the scene when the officer shot him multiple times. When images of the shooting emerged that appeared to contradict the Trump administration’s account of what happened, protests broke out across the United States.

After Ocasio-Cortez linked the financial hardships many Americans are experiencing right now to Good’s murder, some X users praised the simplicity of her message.
“Best line of text I’ve ever seen from AOC” a user. “Do it in every state and you’ll win overall by 10 points.”
“Impeccable messaging” said another. “This should be the thesis of anti-Trump politics, compulsively repeated over and over again.”
